Poplar harvest

img-pioppoIn the early 2000s, with the advent of renewable energy, together with a growing popularity of the “biogas” term, the first plants of poplar short rotation appeared.

Veneta Mais s.r.l. then studied and produced on its own a new, special harvester (suitably connected to a shredder, able to cut-and-chip directly on the ground short rotation (two years) poplar trees.
So the company joined the “traditional” chopping, a new biomass-based harvesting activity, devoted to the short rotation poplar.
Veneta Mais soon patented its prototype “Monofilament Cutter Head BE1” and produces and sells nationally and internationally its application for poplar shredders.
The company is therefore a reference point in the collection of woody biomass (short rotation forestry) in the management of agro-energy lines (poplar biomass).

The poplar, thanks to its durability and ease of growth, is the most productive forest species in temperate climates, with good attitudes growing at different latitudes from north to south.

Our activity also extends to species other than poplar (field crops), which can be used for energy crops (sorghum, reed…).
